The First Time is Always the Hardest

September 5: A few hours ago, anxious as heck, I sat in the parking lot at my local gym, waiting. On a whim I signed up for a membership last week with some friends and tonight was my first time visiting said gym. We were taking a 30 minute #HIIT class and while I was excited to try it, I was crippled with fear and anxiety. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been. My belly gets in the way of everything. I’m not bendy in any way. Like at all! And, I have hip issues. I hate being watched.  My anxiety made me get to the gym 40 minutes early. Scared I’d be late. Scared to show up after the class started. Everyone looking at me. So I sat in the car waiting. Fretting. Beating myself up for letting myself “go” all these years. If I had stayed in shape, I wouldn’t be scared I’d throw up in front of everyone. I fretted until the very last minute before the class started. But knowing I had a friend waiting and counting on me made me move my butt out of that car. Inside the gym, I swipe my pass and I can

Behind the Lens #1

A small glimpse at my week behind the lens....

This past week was so busy! We've been keeping it low-key because of this pandemic but last weekend we just couldn't take it anymore. We have a few people in our bubble which helps us stay sane.

Friday night we visited some family for dinner, drinks, and lot's of dancing and booty shaking in the kitchen (totally embarrassed our kids so it was well worth it).

The following day we ditched the kids (thanks Nonna and Nonno) and met our friends in Niagara Falls for some outlet shopping. I picked up some goodies thanks to Saje (my new favourite store), Under Armour (new shoes who 'dis?), and Bath and Body Works (never thought I'd go crazy over hand sanitizers but this is the new COVID me I guess).

This essential oil spray from Saje was amazing. We were lined up to get into the store and one of the sales ladies sprayed some in my mask to help take the stress out of shopping! Pure genius. My friend and I both bought it...hook line and sink her! Here's a link to the product (nope, I don't make any money off this, just believe in the phrase sharing is caring friends): https://www.saje.com/ca/product/unwind-000058.html.

Hand sanitizer sale at Bath and Body Works...6 for $10. Luckily they had my favourite scents in stock.

Ok I'm going to share a little secret on how to save money on shoes at Under Armour. My feet are size 6 womens (sometimes a 6 and a half). These  babies were in the kids section, size 6 Youth....and at 40% off I only paid $35 for them. I don't think I've ever found such a good deal for adult shoes in my life. I don't think I'll ever pay full price for adult Under Armour shoes again!

Then it was on to dinner and drinks at a local pizzeria (Antica). Wood oven pizza with arugula and fresh prosciutto, and a glass of Chianti. OMG I was in heaven.

We clean up kind of nice don't ya think?

.....and a night time walk to work off all that yummy food.

It was a great weekend and although it felt weird to be out and about in our masks it was well worth it.

This week was pretty tame, work was super busy and the kids were saddled with homework so we didn't really get out much other than the weekly extra curriculars the kids have. Homework in the car while we wait for his sister to finish up with cheer...that's just how we roll these days.

I do have to say though, that I've really enjoyed working from home the past 8'ish months and it's going to be really hard to go back to the office. I'll miss walking these little bozo's to the bus stop in my socks and sandals...my motto is, if you're not embarrassing your kids daily, are you even a parent? (I joke).

That pretty much sums up my last week...very happy that it's the weekend again and can't wait to share next week's adventures!

What's on your plate this weekend?
