The First Time is Always the Hardest

September 5: A few hours ago, anxious as heck, I sat in the parking lot at my local gym, waiting. On a whim I signed up for a membership last week with some friends and tonight was my first time visiting said gym. We were taking a 30 minute #HIIT class and while I was excited to try it, I was crippled with fear and anxiety. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been. My belly gets in the way of everything. I’m not bendy in any way. Like at all! And, I have hip issues. I hate being watched.  My anxiety made me get to the gym 40 minutes early. Scared I’d be late. Scared to show up after the class started. Everyone looking at me. So I sat in the car waiting. Fretting. Beating myself up for letting myself “go” all these years. If I had stayed in shape, I wouldn’t be scared I’d throw up in front of everyone. I fretted until the very last minute before the class started. But knowing I had a friend waiting and counting on me made me move my butt out of that car. Inside the gym, I swipe my pass and I can

Quarantine Survival: 4 Netflix Canada Shows to Binge Watch

I'm not going to sit here and pretend that I am using this self-isolation/quarantine time wisely. I haven't started any new hobbies, nor do I have any interest in learning a new language (thanks for the tip Gwyneth).

Basically, my quarantine survival kit consists of wifi, social media, screen time for the kids, and Netflix. Lots of Netflix.

If you're looking for new shows to binge-watch...here are a few of my faves that I will probably rewatch soon!

Workin' Moms

OK, so I love this show. Not just because it's a Canadian original, but because I think every mom during different stages of parenting can relate to these characters and struggles at various points. It's hilarious, some parts are uncomfortable, and some storylines hit a little too close to home. But trust me, it's an easy and fast show to breeze through if you're quarantining yourself during this pandemic.

GOOP Lab

GOOP has a pretty comprehensive synopsis of what their Netflix docuseries is about (https://goop.com/the-goop-lab-netflix/). But what I found most interesting is how the ideas come to fruition and how the team really uses themselves as guinea pigs to get to the bottom of the research. My favourite episodes were Cold Comfort (ep. 2), and The Energy Experience (ep. 5).

Cable Girls

I needed an exciting go-to period drama to lose myself in, and this one did the trick. 5 whole seasons of how the lives of four young women in the 1920s are connected as they delve deep into their careers at the cable company in Madrid. Love, mystery, crime, drama...it's all there, and it's spectacular!

Love is Blind

I'm not going to lie, I miss the Bachelor! And this show got me out of my Bachelor slump! There are people you may want to slap, there are budding love stories that may make you weep....all I'm gonna say is that you will love some...hate some....and then you'll stalk them on Instagram to see if they're still together or not! Come on...you know you want to come over to the dark side with me!

What are your go-to binge-worthy shows?
