The First Time is Always the Hardest

September 5: A few hours ago, anxious as heck, I sat in the parking lot at my local gym, waiting. On a whim I signed up for a membership last week with some friends and tonight was my first time visiting said gym. We were taking a 30 minute #HIIT class and while I was excited to try it, I was crippled with fear and anxiety. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been. My belly gets in the way of everything. I’m not bendy in any way. Like at all! And, I have hip issues. I hate being watched.  My anxiety made me get to the gym 40 minutes early. Scared I’d be late. Scared to show up after the class started. Everyone looking at me. So I sat in the car waiting. Fretting. Beating myself up for letting myself “go” all these years. If I had stayed in shape, I wouldn’t be scared I’d throw up in front of everyone. I fretted until the very last minute before the class started. But knowing I had a friend waiting and counting on me made me move my butt out of that car. Inside the gym, I swipe my pass and I can

The BEST Red Lipstick I Can't Live Without

If there's one makeup item I can't live without it's a lip colour of some sort. Between tinted lip balms, lip-gloss, or a long lasting crème or matte lipstick, I'm never without something on my little pout. My go-to brands have always been Revlon, L'Oreal and MAC so it's no surprise my favourite red is from L'Oreal. When I need a good pop of colour to stand out or break up my usual all black outfit, I tend to lean on this red beauty - #315 True Red to be exact. This lipstick is everything I could ever want in a colour: creamy, soft on my lips, and saturated colour. And I literally wear it all year long - but it's especially amazing in the Fall! What's your go-to, "can't live without it" lip colour? Weekend Vibes: Saturday Walks with My Crew

This weekend started like every other weekend around here. My husband had to work Saturday morning, we had no groceries, no clean underwear, and there was the all too familiar stench of boy farts and sweat coming from my son's room. Don't I just paint the prettiest of pictures? I can't say I tackled the day's chores right away. Or the state of my son's room. But what I can tell you, is that I drank 3 cups of coffee, and ignored the kids for about 2 hours while I lost myself in my blog before I decided to get moving on my very glamorous Saturday morning to-do list.  I'm sure you all have a similar list: strip the beds/wash the sheets, do 1 million loads of laundry, fantasize about living on the beach in Malibu with a gorgeous man servant who scrubs the toilets so you don't have to. Then pull yourself together, swear under your breath that you live with a bunch of effing wild animals...and promptly put off the rest of the house cleaning and toilet bowl cleanin

Friday Five's - It's Not to Early for Christmas Right?!

I'm the worst at keeping a schedule in my person life. During the work day...I am on point with my schedule and to-do lists. I've always said that, and although I'm aware, I just can't seem to get my shit together on this dang blog! Or my workouts. Or meal planning/WW (Weight Watchers).  I'm posting a Friday Five's article on Saturday morning. This is just how I roll...get used to it friends! Back to our scheduled programming..... Is it just me or did the stores kind of skip over Halloween and move straight to Christmas? I swear I say this every year. But this year, maybe because we're still being cautious and not going out as much because of this pandemic, I feel like the stores are all about Christmas decor and holiday gift guides. Not that I mind, I'm not a huge Halloween fan anyway. This past week was so busy, and we had lots to celebrate. Here's a highlight. The kids and I took in the beautiful sights of a nearby walking trail with my parents.

Friday Five's: Canadian Thanksgiving Collection

It's Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada and I'm sooo pumped to be hosting a super small gathering (just my family, brother, and parents) on Saturday. The turkey is bought, recipes are pinned, and my daughter helped with the fall/Thanksgiving decorations around the house. All that is left is to get some yummy smelling fall candles, and also, get that bird in the oven (have to wait until tomorrow for that). What Thanksgiving Means to Me I never really thought too much about Thanksgiving in my early years, but as I got older, and more  specifically after I had kids, I've really started to have a new appreciation for the holiday. Another defining moment: when my dad survived his heart attack a couple of years ago. It's true what people say, life is precious and not a day goes by that I don't tell everyone I care about how much they mean to me. If I love someone, I tell them. That's just how I roll these days. We practice gratitude every day but what I love most abo

Behind the Lens #1

A small glimpse at my week behind the lens.... This past week was so busy! We've been keeping it low-key because of this pandemic but last weekend we just couldn't take it anymore. We have a few people in our bubble which helps us stay sane. Friday night we visited some family for dinner, drinks, and lot's of dancing and booty shaking in the kitchen (totally embarrassed our kids so it was well worth it).  The following day we ditched the kids (thanks Nonna and Nonno) and met our friends in Niagara Falls for some outlet shopping. I picked up some goodies thanks to Saje (my new favourite store), Under Armour (new shoes who 'dis?), and Bath and Body Works (never thought I'd go crazy over hand sanitizers but this is the new COVID me I guess). This essential oil spray from Saje was amazing. We were lined up to get into the store and one of the sales ladies sprayed some in my mask to help take the stress out of shopping! Pure genius. My friend and I both bought it...hook
