The First Time is Always the Hardest

September 5: A few hours ago, anxious as heck, I sat in the parking lot at my local gym, waiting. On a whim I signed up for a membership last week with some friends and tonight was my first time visiting said gym. We were taking a 30 minute #HIIT class and while I was excited to try it, I was crippled with fear and anxiety. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been. My belly gets in the way of everything. I’m not bendy in any way. Like at all! And, I have hip issues. I hate being watched.  My anxiety made me get to the gym 40 minutes early. Scared I’d be late. Scared to show up after the class started. Everyone looking at me. So I sat in the car waiting. Fretting. Beating myself up for letting myself “go” all these years. If I had stayed in shape, I wouldn’t be scared I’d throw up in front of everyone. I fretted until the very last minute before the class started. But knowing I had a friend waiting and counting on me made me move my butt out of that car. Inside the gym, I swipe my pass and I can

CurrentlyJen's Friday Favourites - February 17, 2023

Eeeek it's a Friday Faves day...I've missed these. Here's what I've been up to and what I'm obsessing over this week.

My husband bought me a Kindle a few weeks ago (an early Valentine's Day gift) and I've been obsessed with downloading new books with Kindle Unlimited. I stumbled on two books by Jessica Simpson that were so good, I love when celebrities offer a rare glimpse into their world.

Take the Lead: An Essay by Jessica Simpson

The other night I made a quick sheet pan-style dinner: parmesan-crusted chicken, roasted potatoes and green beans. It was Weight Watchers friendly and kid approved. That's a win-win in my books!

Got my hair done on Friday. It was nice to get some bounce back with some layers...up next: cover those roots!

I made this really good Weight Watchers friendly creamy salad dressing. One serving (1 tablespoon) is only 1 point and it was so easy to make. I put all the ingredients into a small mason jar and shook it all up to mix it. The leftover dressing kept in the fridge for a few days. I bet it would make a great marinade too.

If you want the recipe, leave a comment and I'll post it next week!

At the beginning of the year I signed up for the 2023 Goodreads reading challenge. I committed myself to 24 books this year, and I've read 4 so far.

If you have any recommendations on books to add to my list, leave them in the comments.

It was a great week, can't wait to see what the weekend with the family brings!

Linking up for Friday Favorites!
