Costco Healthy Grocery Haul

Here's my Costco Canada  grocery haul this week!  I picked up a few basics (fruit, veg, Turkey, bread), a few treats for the kiddos (Chicago Mix, croissants) and found a few new low-point treats for me to try. High protein bread (2 personal points for me but not gluten-free so this will be an in-moderation food) and a cauliflower crust kit (4 personal points for me).  I’ll round off this shop with a small haul at another grocery store this weekend, and then I’m already for some batch cooking this weekend.  Now that the kids are back to sports in the evenings I need quick grab-and-go freezer meals: chilli, soup, homemade sauce for pasta etc.  What are some of your favourite  #wwfoodfinds ? Weekend Recap: Mother's Day 2021

My daughter's plate (mine had more eggs and no toast)

Mother's Day in a pandemic is about the same as it was pre-pandemic....and I wouldn't have it any other way. From waking up and enjoying the first cup of coffee from the comfort of my bed, to hearing the kids making me a yummy breakfast, some traditions were just not meant to be broken or altered!

We had our super amazing breakfast, then hubby went to bed (he had just come off a night shift and had to be back at work later that evening), and I had some quiet time which is always a bonus in my books.

I can't say I did anything exciting during my time alone, but sometimes making a homemade detox tea and watching some HGTV are all I need to relax and unwind. What's in my detox tea you ask? Well usually it's just some hot water, fresh lemon juice, a chunk of fresh ginger, and a sprinkle of cayenne pepper OR a small dollop honey. But this time I nixed the cayenne and honey, and added a mint leaf. It didn't taste great (too strong with boiled water) so I'll save the mint leaves for cold water instead.

Quiet Time and Detox Tea After a Large Breakfast

In the afternoon I convinced the kids to go on a nature walk with me...I had to bribe them with hot chocolate from Starbucks. It worked, they indulged me in some family time and it felt so nice to get out of the house. I'm finding that now that I work from home, and we're in a lockdown, I never leave my house. I didn't realize how much I needed to get out! Anyone else feel that way?

My kiddos...they're growing way too fast!

We finished off the day with some homemade pan pizza (and wine for me). Sooo good, and now we're obsessed with making pizza! I am sure homemade pizza will now be a staple at our house from now on!

Who knew pizza baked in a cast iron skillet would be so tasty!?

How was your mother's day this year? Did you have to alter your traditions due to COVID-19?
